Hydrofilter (HF)
The Hydroworks
Hydrofilter is a hybrid filtration and separation water quality
structure. The
Hydrofilter represents a treatment train approach to storm water
quality enhancement in one structure. Water moves through a series of
chambers in which solids and oils/floatables and trash are removed
prior to filtration. The water that has been filtered is recharged back
to groundwater minimizing the impact of the development to the
hydrologic cycle. High flows are treated in a separate flow path to
remove larger debris, floatables and trash. This
allows the Hydrofilter to treat higher flows but also minimize scour
and
resuspension of previously captured fines.
Designed with
the
ultra-urban environment in mind, the Hydrofilter series offers many
benefits to urban
planners and civil engineers:
- Treatment Train
Approach to Water Quality (Separation, Filtration, Groundwater Recharge)
- Supports Smart
Growth principles since the HF is installed underground maximizing the
development density in an urban area
- Minimal
elevation difference between inlet and outlet pipe
- Sized based on
local hydrology and continuous simulation
- Technical
support to assist with design and approval issues
- Treats both low
and high flows
- Separate low
flow path minimizes scour potential at high flows
- Removes
trash, oil spills, suspended solids, and other targeted pollutants
based on the filter media (nutrients, metals, bacteria)
- Reduces
storm water volume (flood control, erosion control, hydrologic cycle
management benefits)
Typical applications
where the HG series would be used include:
- Commercial
sites
- Transfer stations
- Industrial sites
- High density
residential development
